Kobie Scott

BOOM, CRACK, POW! Is it cartoons, or is it the sound of Kobie’s knees whenever he tried jumping off anything and everything thinking he was one of the Looney Tunes? As a kid growing up in Atlanta GA, Kobie had access to a motherload of entertainment, but he decided that Saturday Morning Cartoons were going to be his. While he wasn’t personifying the reason for the Standards and Practices department, Kobie enjoyed writing in and out of school. He would always come up with his own storylines for his favorite shows on TV.

In hindsight, it was obvious Kobie’s true place as a writer was for TV, but just like the first few drafts of a script, he threw a lot at the wall before something stuck. He was accepted at Georgia Southern University and explored various career paths in college. He worked on multiple indie projects as a Video Game writer, then moved towards animation (his back is still aching from the classes), but he eventually accepted who he truly was: a creative writer with a cartoon addiction. So, he directed his attention towards scriptwriting!

After graduating, Kobie worked as a leasing consultant. He sold apartments by day and grinded out scripts by night, kind of like a less exciting, writerly version of Batman. However, he’d soon get blown away in the chaotic, life-changing whirlwind that was the first COVID-19 outbreak. He still worked in the office while most people were stuck at home. It didn’t take long for him to realize that if the world was crumbling, the future was uncertain and people were using toilet paper for currency, quitting his job to become a full-time writer wouldn’t be that crazy.

Kobie searched for writing opportunities online and found the Nickelodeon Writing Program. He saved up as much as possible, quit his day job, worked on his best scripts, and applied.

Now that he’s joining the Nickelodeon family, Kobie wants to focus on polishing his craft and working on shows that entertain families all around the world!
